The system comprised of internal secretory glands is called the endocrine system. These glands are the organs which synthesise and secrete hormones. Hormones regulate development, growth, reproduction and metabolism. Endocrinology is a discipline of medicine that deals with the hormonal and metabolic balance of the body and related problems and diseases.
