Interventional Radiology

Today, technology has enabled the development of devices that can heal disease with very thin materials while imaging the inside of the human body. The science of interventional Radiology has also emerged in order to use high-tech devices in the treatment while imaging the inside of the body. Interventional Radiology, which has developed as a result of scientific and technological progress in medicine, is the improvement of the disease in the patient's internal organs, brain or vessels by entering through a small hole in the skin through advanced radiological imaging methods such as ultrasound, angiography, MR or CT.

The interventional Radiology doctor applies the treatment by reaching the diseased area with advanced devices using high technological imaging tools. Since these procedures are performed by entering through a small hole in the skin, the patient shows a rapid recovery and is usually discharged within a day.

What are the diseases that are diagnosed and treated?

  • Interventional radiological procedures for cerebral vascular diseases are usually performed to prevent cerebral haemorrhage and stroke.
  • The bubbles formed in the brain vessels (aneurysms) are treated through the vein.
  • Congenital vascular tangles (AVM) in the brain are prevented from clogging by moving through the capillaries.
  • In cases such as stroke and stroke that have just occurred, opening the blocked brain vessel is performed by making an intervention within hours.
  • Carotid artery and cerebellum vein stenoses that interfere with brain nutrition or create a risk of stroke are opened through a balloon and a stent accompanied by protective filters inside the vein.
  • In diabetics, the disorders that occur due to nutritional disorders in the feet (skin changes, bruising, wounds, ulcers) are treated intravenously.
