Radiology Biography
Dr. Bülent Tekinsoy graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1984 and was assigned to Divriği Health Center (Sivas) in accordance with the "Compulsory Service" law.
In 1985, he was appointed as the Head of Divriği Health Group and supervised the implementation of the National Vaccination Campaign in the region.
In 1986, he started his specialization training in Radiology.
During his specialization period from August 1987 to March 1988, he completed his training in Computerized Tomography at the Department of Radiology, Ankara University Faculty of Medicine.
In 1988, with a scholarship from the Higher Education Council (Yüksek Öğrenim Kurumu), he was sent to Hannover Medical School (MHH) Radiology Clinic in Germany by Cumhuriyet University. He became an assistant in the Radiology Clinic at MHH in the state of Niedersachsen, working in the special group of Prof. Dr. Michael Galanski. During his time there, he received advanced training in Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Digital Subtraction Angiography, and Interventional Radiology. He also worked on the development of Per-cutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty and Stent applications, as well as the study of liver embolizations and the investigation of the angiographic effects of new pharmaceutical agents in pharmacophalloangiography. He presented his Radiological studies on Renal Osteopathy-Amyloidosis at various international conferences and defended his Radiology thesis on the same topic. His work resulted in the award of the Scientific Achievement Award at the 76th Congress of the Radiological Society of North America in 1990.
He also worked in the Neuro-radiology department (Director: Prof. Dr. Hartmut Becker) at the same faculty, focusing on all sections of Neuro-radiology and particularly Interventional Neuro-radiology. He personally performed over 500 Diagnostic Neuro-Angiographies and Myelographies, as well as numerous cerebral and vertebral arterial embolotherapies.
In 1990, he obtained the title of "Radiological Diagnostic Specialist" with his thesis titled "Radiological Diagnosis of Non-Infectious, Destructive Spondylopathy Developing in Renal Osteopathy".
In the same year, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the faculty, and in June 1991, he was promoted to Associate Professor. During this period, he served as the responsible teaching member for the units of Computerized Tomography and Angiography. He also played a role in planning and executing the education of assistants in the department and served as the Education Coordinator for the Radiology Department at the University's Health Vocational School in 1990-1991.
At the end of 1991, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor to the Department of Radiology at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine. In this department, he worked as a faculty member responsible for the units of Angiography, Interventional Radiology, and Computerized Tomography. He also contributed to the establishment of the Neuro-radiology Unit. He was promoted to Associate Professor in this department in 1993.
In 1993, he completed his military service at Girne Military Hospital, where he served as a medical officer.
In 1994, he became an Associate Professor at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine.
In September 2001, he was appointed as a Professor and moved to the Department of Radiology at Maltepe University Faculty of Medicine. He was also appointed as the Head of the Department of Radiology. He was assigned by the Rectorate to serve as the Medical Director to coordinate the relationship between Maltepe University and Private Marmara Hospital.
From 2004 to 2013, he held the positions of Head of the Radiology Department and Medical Director in various private hospitals and groups.
From 2013 to 2017, he worked at Istanbul Aydın University, where he successively served as the Director of the Health Vocational School, Director of the Institute of Health Sciences, and Founding Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
In 2018 and 2019, he served as the General Director of Iskenderun Private Development Hospital.
Since 2021, he has been working in the Radiology Department of Okan University Hospital.
Since 2002, he has been a member of the Publication Advisory Board of the Turkish Clinics Journal.
He has 121 scientific works published in national and international scientific publications, as well as 32 conference presentations delivered upon invitations from various medical associations and organizations.
He is a member of the Turkish Radiology Society, Ultrasonography Society, Magnetic Resonance Society, Medical Imaging and Interventional Radiology Society, and Deutsche Röntgengesellschaft (A).
Dr. Tekinsoy is a father of one and is proficient in German and English.
