After listening to a detailed history of the patient's history, the type of sexual dysfunction is determined. Following this process, a physical examination is performed. The physical examination is not limited to the evaluation of the genital organ but includes a complete systemic examination. After the assessment of the genital area, it is also observed whether the patient develops hair growth, beard structure, and breast growth. When blood pressure measurement and body mass index are to be calculated, the prostate examination should also be performed for people with urination and premature ejaculation problems and patients over 50. After the physical examination, tests reveal risks such as atherosclerosis, diabetes, or hormonal disorders. For patients who applied with complaints of impotence, the following tests are performed:

Biochemical tests: Measurement of serum lipid levels, fasting blood sugar, and HbA1c tests, which provide information about the average blood sugar for three months in a condition that is diabetic.

Hormonal tests: Measurement of serum testosterone level.

In addition to these tests, if deemed necessary, depending on the underlying condition or risk factor, different tests such as liver function tests, whole blood and sedimentation, complete urinalysis, PSA measurement, and additional hormonal tests may also be ordered. There is no routine examination to evaluate the neurological system of a patient presenting with a complaint of impotence. In cases such as diabetes, chronic diseases related to the nervous system, the use of medications, or the presence of a history of operations, it is recommended that the relevant department evaluate the patient with a detailed neurological examination.

Is radiological imaging used in the diagnosis and treatment of impotence?

An artery provides the blood supply to the penis. Any risk factor or disease that affects this vein can disrupt the blood flow, reduce the blood supply to the penis, or lead to impotence. A penile doppler application may be requested to evaluate blood flow during this process. This application, which is a minimally invasive procedure, is not applied to every patient.
